MOTIF “JAKA TARUB” DAN OBJEKTIFIKASI PEREMPUAN DALAM CERITA RAKYAT NUSANTARA

The story of Jaka Tarub is one of the folk tales that is still sustainable and known to many people of the archipelago. As one of the most popular stories, several folk tales have been found that have similar motifs to the story of Jaka Tarub in several regions of the archipelago. The similarity of motifs that appear in several regions of the archipelago, which are geographically quite far apart, indicates the existence of a common worldview in the cultural life of the people who own the stories. This is related to the perspective of seeing the position of men and women in socio-cultural life. This study aims to describe the similarity of Jaka Tarub's motives in Nusantara folklores and carry out feminist literary criticism of the objectivity of women in the Jaka Tarub-patterned Nusantara folklore. To do this, a text comparison method with the perspective of Feminist Literary Criticism (KSF) is used. The research data source is a collection of folk tales documented by the Yogyakarta Malay Cultural Studies and Development Center. The data of this research are in the form of quotes, words, sentences, and characters' actions that show the similarity of Jaka Tarub's motives and the objectification of female characters. Data collection techniques using note-taking and data analysis techniques using data presentation, data reduction and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that twelve stories have the same motif of the story as Jaka Tarub. The similarity of motifs is in the elements of plot, character, and prohibitions/taboos. However, other elements, such as the character's name, time setting, social setting, and cultural setting in each story are different according to where the story originates. This study argues that the emergence of stories in the archipelago with the Jaka Tarub motif is suspected for two reasons: the popularity of stories in the past and the migration of stories due to cultural contact between communities in the past. On the other hand, although the story has spread and adapted to the local culture, the image of the objectification of women is still found throughout the story. This shows the similarity of people's perspectives regarding men's fantasies of women's bodies even though they are in different regions
